Latest News (The Standard Insurance, Early Tell Incentive, & Second Open Enrollment for Health Insurance

Dear Members,

As we head into the holiday break, we have important reminders with deadlines coming up quickly. Please carefully read the following information about The Standard Insurance, the Early Tell resignation incentive, and new this year, a second open enrollment period for health insurance.

10 Minute Meeting Notes:

Agenda:

  1. What was discussed at the last TTEA meeting.

* We are creating some new committees, which are a wonderful and small way to contribute to the union. Look for them in upcoming meetings.

* There were some issues with the Nov. 1 PD day check. You can now get paid if you were unable to attend. Put in for time off via Frontline or speak to your site admin secretary.

  1. What we need input on—

We have some elections coming up: some site reps and also the President and Treasurer. If you would like to run, please let your current site rep or Jen McMaster know.

  1. Latest development on—

The new salary schedule should start in Jan. (maybe end) and the retro checks should come at the end of February. If not we will let you know.

  1. Something that should make you proud:

We hit the quota for signing up for The Standard disability insurance. There is still time to sign up (deadline 12/31). There will not be a medical screening if you do. Link to flyer. This only happens every three years.

From HR Director Mike Shepherd: Early Tell/Resending email with the corrected link to the Resignation Form

There is a $1000 early tell stipend available for anyone who is planning to retire at the end of the 2024-2025 school year.  This early notification assists the District in planning for staffing needs in the 2025-2026 school year.

Please see the following guidelines in order to qualify for the stipend:

  • Early Tell of $1000 for all employees.

  • Must submit an IK-12 Resignation form by Friday, January 31, 2025.

  • Your resignation date must be effective as of your last working day for the 2024-2025 school year.  Once submitted, your resignation is non-revocable.

  • Must show evidence of signing up for PERS or STRS retirement no later than June 1, 2025 (so we can compensate on the June 30 payroll) in order to receive the $1000.

Here is the link to the resignation form.  Resignation Form

From Chely Lopez, Our TTUSD Benefits Specialist

Hi TTUSD Team,

As you know, the District experienced a much larger than normal rate increase this year on its health and welfare benefit plans offered through CVT. We understand that this rate increase, in comparison to the current District benefit contribution, led to many employees electing to change their plan during our last open enrollment period. However, since our last open enrollment, some positive changes have occurred. After successfully completing negotiations with all employee groups this year, the District Annual Health Benefit Contribution will now increase to the following amounts for all employees effective January 1, 2025:

  • Employee Only - $10,551

  • Employee + One - $12,136

  • Employee + Family - $16,438

This is an 11% increase to the District Contribution for each tier, which is enough to fully cover the cost of our lowest PPO Plan (PPO9) for an employee only.

In light of the increase to the District contribution, and since the rate increase for plans was especially large this year, we would like to provide another opportunity for employees to select a health benefit plan. We will be offering an additional open enrollment period for health and welfare benefits, effective now through January 15, 2025. As a reminder, open enrollment is the time to change to a different insurance plan should you choose to, and add/drop dependents without needing a qualifying event. Any changes made after January 15th will require a qualifying event (see attached for qualifying events).

If you would like to make a change to your plan during this open enrollment period, you may do so online at mycvt.cvtrust.org. If you would like to remain on your current plan, you are not required to do anything. No exceptions will be made for any changes after January 15th other than qualifying events.

The increased district contribution will go into effect on January 1, 2025. However, any plan changes made through this open enrollment period will not go into effect until February 1st, 2025.

If you have any questions please feel free to contact me, have a great rest of your day!

Thank you,
